The Taj Mahal

The Taj Mahal in Uttar Pradesh, India is one of the greatest and most beautiful works of architecture still standing in the world.  It is the embodiment of the love of one man (Emperor Shah Jahan) for his wife (Mumtaz Mahal) who died during childbirth in 1631.  In response to her death, he wished to construct a tomb worthy of her beauty.  The end, built in 15 years, is a result is truly a work of art: the Taj Mahal. 

The marble building reaches 38 meters high and still amazes everyone with its many intricate designs and size.  The best time to visit the actual building is on Friday evenings when the moon illuminates the spires and the native Indian families stroll the gardens and gaze at the fountains in the three acre site.  The best time of year to visit is from mid October to March.  Take time to visit this great architectural work which is one of India’s most beloved national monuments.
