Australian scientists have announced that they have discovered three new dinosaur species in a Queensland billabong. The first species is a carnivorous theropod, similar to a velociraptor-tyrannosaurus rex mix. This species had three giant claws that were used to slash at its prey. and others, two herbiverous titanosaurs, the largest living things ever to walk the earth.
Interestingly enough, the billabong, or small lake, was believed to be where Banjo Paterson wrote the song Waltzing Matlida over 100 years ago.
The Cosmic Perspective
Dinosaurs have always intrigued human beings. Their gigantic size and the lack of specifics about their lives make them compelling. The Outback is a vast and intimidating desert in the center of Australia. Only in the near past has this unknown fossil vault been tapped. Who knows how many more new, unknown species which can capture our imagination will be found in this continent-sized area?

There’s a treasure trove of fossils out here and they are only just beginning to tap it. Cool.
BTW, pretty much every Aussie State claims that Waltzing Matilda was written in their particular state. However, the song also references a certain kind of tree that is native to Western Aus. Shhhh, don’t tell QLD, NSW or VIC.
Haha. Thanks for the insight into Australian culture!
Somehow fossils and the Outback seem to go together. I wish I could explore that!
